Real news- Police respond to a 'Man with a Gun' call
...at a gun store.
A passerby outside the Gun Room Inc., 5537 S.E. Foster Rd., called 9-1-1 about 6 p.m. to report that a man standing outside was holding a gun and looked "nervous and sweaty," said Sgt. Pete Simpson, a Portland Police Bureau spokesman.
Area residents reported seeing officers surround the shop and set up a perimeter with assault rifles drawn. But police quickly realized the "suspicious" man was there to sell a gun. They left without issuing any citations, Simpson said.

No Hands!!

Mi2tall's Guide Gear Carbine Scabbard was delivered yesterday. It's really well made; thick leather and good hardware. The Rossi m92 16" .357/.38 fits into it like hand in glove. They also make a scabbard for scoped rifles, which I might get for the Marlin 1894 .44 Mag w/Simmons 3-9x42. May have to look at the matching cartridge belt(s), too.

It's a Boy...Well...a Rossi Anyway

MI2Tall just picked up a new toy late Thursday...a Rossi M92 16" round barrel .357Magnum/.38 Special in Stainless Steel. It's beauty and I can't wait to take it to Red's for a little introductory session.
Makes a nice companion to the Marlin 1894 .44 Magnum, don't you think? I was surprised to notice the difference in the length of the receiver (that's what she said!); longer for the Rossi .357 than for the Marlin .44.
I've toyed with the idea of mounting a simple red dot sight in place of the the rear sight but will likely hold off until Dr. Dell can figure out what the #*%! is up with my right eye.

Kitten at the Range

A couple of weeks back, one of our Austin co-workers expressed interest in going to the range with us. As she is a firearms novice and we are always looking for converts, we said "Sure". We went to Red's at lunchtime; Aaron hauling his usual arsenal (Smith & Wesson 2206 pistol, new CZ 9mm pistol, 10/22 rifle and .357 lever-action; me just making do with the Marlin lever .44 and the WASR. "Kitten" first tried Aaron's .22 Smith auto-loader to get her feet wet. She was a little leery at first but did great and fired off two magazines altogether. The CZ was a little too lively for her and she stopped after the first shot. She seemed to enjoy the 10/22; firing about 10 rounds (see video below). She had no interest in either of the lever guns or the WASR. We were very proud of her efforts and while I don't think she is a convert, she can at least make an informed decision.
